How Marketplace Fees Change Your Net Profit
Estimate marketplace and payment fees, product costs, and net profit with editable presets—then confirm live seller rates.
A sticker price is not what you keep. Marketplaces take a cut, payment processors add percentage and fixed fees, and shipping or ads can erase a thin margin. Estimating those pieces before you list a SKU beats discovering them on the payout statement.
The Haivix Ecommerce Platform Fee Calculator runs in the browser. Pick a preset (Amazon, Etsy, eBay, Shopify, or Custom), edit the percentages and fixed fee, add product cost, shipping charged vs shipping cost, and ads, then read platform fee, payment fee, net profit, and margin. Presets are planning examples—not live marketplace rates.
How the math is built
Revenue is item price plus shipping charged to the buyer. Platform fee is revenue × platform percent. Payment fee is revenue × payment percent plus the fixed fee. Costs are product cost + shipping cost + ads. Profit is revenue minus fees minus costs. Margin is profit ÷ revenue × 100 (0 if revenue is 0).
Currency (USD, PKR, GBP, EUR, AED, INR) formats display only—it does not convert exchange rates. Stats update live; you can copy a fee estimate as text.
Presets vs your seller account
Example starting points in the tool include Amazon at 15% platform, Etsy at 6.5% plus 3% payment and $0.45 fixed, eBay at 13.25% plus $0.30 fixed, Shopify at 0% platform with 2.9% + $0.30 payment, and a Custom default. Category, country, plan, and promotions change real fees.
Always confirm the current schedule in your seller dashboard before you lock a price. The UI warns that presets are for planning.
What this calculator leaves out
No tax/VAT, multi-line carts, subscriptions, FBA storage, or returns. For margin vs markup framing on a simpler cost/price model, use the Profit Margin Calculator. For units needed to cover fixed costs, try the Break-Even Calculator.
Checklist before you publish a listing price
Open the Ecommerce Platform Fee Calculator, adjust fees and costs, and copy the estimate into your pricing sheet. Numbers stay local.
- Preset fields match the channel you actually sell on—or Custom with your numbers.
- Shipping charged and shipping cost are both filled when you offer ship-to-customer.
- Ads or promoted listings are included if you rely on them.
- Margin still works after a fee increase scenario.
- You verified live rates in the seller account.
- Tax and returns are handled outside this estimate.
