What Case Converter helps you do
Convert prose and identifiers between uppercase, lowercase, title case, camelCase, snake_case, kebab-case, and other common programming casings. Writers use it for headings; developers use it for symbol names and constants. The conversion runs on the pasted text only, so a draft never has to leave the page.
Text is processed entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored after your session.
How it works
Each button applies a pure string transformation. Title Case lowercases small words such as of, the and and when they are not first or last, while Proper Case capitalizes every word. The programming cases trim the input, change the overall case, and replace runs of whitespace with an underscore, hyphen or nothing. Accented letters are handled by the browser's case mapping.
How to use Case Converter
- Paste text and pick the target case from the list.
- Review the result and clean any punctuation the case did not remove.
- Copy the converted output for the document or code file.
When to use it
- Normalize heading capitalization before publishing docs.
- Turn space-separated labels into snake_case or camelCase for code.
- Invert or alternate case for creative typography or test strings.
- Convert a list of column headers to a database naming convention.
- Standardize email subject lines or slide titles.
- Produce a CONSTANT_CASE name from a human-readable label.
- Standardize a column of names before a mail merge.
When not to use it
- Do not expect snake_case or kebab-case to strip punctuation or split existing camelCase.
- Do not use Title Case as a substitute for a style guide's capitalization rules.
- Do not rely on the tool to validate an identifier in the target language.
Example
A CSV header says Monthly recurring revenue. snake_case gives monthly_recurring_revenue, lowerCamelCase gives monthlyRecurringRevenue, and CONSTANT_CASE gives MONTHLY_RECURRING_REVENUE. The developer checks that the database column does not already exist before using the snake_case value.
What you can do with Case Converter
- Convert to lower case and UPPER CASE.
- Apply Title Case with small words kept lowercase.
- Apply Proper Case to every word.
- Invert or alternate letter case.
- Convert to lowerCamelCase and UpperCamelCase.
- Convert to snake_case, kebab-case or CONSTANT_CASE.
Example: turn a label into a code identifier
Paste the human-readable label, such as Recent invoices, and choose the target case. For a TypeScript field, lowerCamelCase gives recentInvoices; for a Python constant, CONSTANT_CASE gives RECENT_INVOICES.
Check the result for punctuation the conversion did not remove. The programming cases replace whitespace, so a label with a slash or a colon may need cleaning first.
Copy the value into the code, then run the formatter or linter as usual. The tool does not check that the name is unique or valid in the target language.
What to know before you start
- snake_case, kebab-case and CONSTANT_CASE replace whitespace but do not remove punctuation.
- Existing camelCase is not split into words before conversion.
- Title Case follows a small-word list, not a full style manual.
- Alternating case alternates over letters only, skipping spaces and punctuation.
- Locale-specific case rules are left to the browser.
Common mistakes
- Assuming kebab-case will convert an existing camelCase string; it only replaces whitespace.
- Leaving punctuation in a label and getting an invalid identifier.
- Using Title Case on a brand name that has its own capitalization.
- Expecting alternating case to alternate over every character rather than every letter.
- Converting a whole document when only the headings needed the change.
- Pasting a whole document when only one heading needed conversion.
Troubleshooting
If the result still contains spaces, the chosen case only replaces whitespace with a separator; check the punctuation and spacing in the source.
If an accent looks wrong, the browser's case mapping may differ from the target system's locale rules. Check the value in the destination.
If the title case looks odd, small words at the start or end are capitalized by design; adjust them manually if the style guide says otherwise.
If a camelCase result has a leading capital, use lowerCamelCase rather than UpperCamelCase.
If a value is very long, split it into words first so the separator is applied consistently.
If the tool changes letters you wanted untouched, the chosen case applies to the whole pasted text; convert only the relevant fragment or fix the result by hand.
If a conversion looks inconsistent, compare the input spacing; multiple spaces or tabs are collapsed into one separator.
