PDF Remove Pages

Select and delete pages from a PDF in your browser.

What PDF Remove Pages helps you do

Select and delete pages from a PDF so the remaining pages form a new document. The page thumbnails make it easy to drop a cover sheet, a blank scan or an appendix you do not want to share. The output keeps the surviving pages in their original order.

Page deletion runs locally in your browser. Haivix does not receive the document.

How it works

A PDF stores positioned drawing instructions rather than flowing paragraphs, which is why editing one is different from editing a document. Page content, fonts, images and annotations are separate objects, and a page only carries a text layer if the producer wrote one. Most tools here rebuild or render the file in your browser with pdf-lib and pdf.js; the formats that need a full office engine, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF/A and HTML, use the Haivix service and say so in their privacy note. Every tool writes a new file and leaves the original untouched. Because content is placed by coordinates, extraction often returns text runs in visual order rather than sentences, and columns or tables can arrive interleaved.

How to use PDF Remove Pages

  1. Load the PDF and review the thumbnail list.
  2. Select the pages to remove.
  3. Delete them and download the shortened PDF.
  4. Reopen the result to confirm the page count.

When to use it

  • Remove a blank or duplicate scan page.
  • Drop confidential pages before sharing a document.
  • Trim cover sheets and appendices from a report.
  • Remove an outdated page from a policy pack.
  • Cut a separator page from a combined scan.
  • Shorten a file before sending it through an upload limit.

When not to use it

  • Do not use it when you need to keep every page and only hide some.
  • Do not expect form fields or bookmarks to be remapped for you.
  • Do not delete pages from a signed document and expect the signature to remain valid.

Example

Removing pages 2 and 5 from a ten-page document leaves eight pages in the original order. The page that was 3 becomes 2 in the output, so any printed table of contents no longer matches. Bookmarks and internal links that pointed to the removed pages may break.

What you can do with PDF Remove Pages

  • Preview every page as a thumbnail.
  • Select one or more pages to remove.
  • Delete the selection and rebuild the PDF.
  • Keep the remaining pages in order.
  • Download the shortened document.
  • Run the edit locally in the browser.

Example: work on a copy and check the output

Keep the original file. These tools produce a download rather than editing in place, so a failed operation never damages the source.

Check whether the PDF has a real text layer before relying on extraction. A scan is an image, so text tools return little or nothing until OCR has run.

Unlock encrypted files first. A password-protected PDF cannot be reordered, cropped or annotated until it has been opened with the correct password.

Review the output before sending it on. Fonts can substitute, overlays do not always remove what is underneath, and page boxes can shift content near the edges.

Note the page size and orientation before laying anything out. A mixed document can contain portrait and landscape pages, and a tool that assumes one size may crop or offset the others.

Keep a note of the operation and its settings. If a recipient questions the result, reproducing it from the original is faster than guessing which options were used.

What to know before you start

  • Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first.
  • Deleting pages changes page numbers, so any printed index or page references become outdated.
  • Bookmarks, links and form fields are not automatically updated to the new numbering.
  • The tool rebuilds the document and may not preserve every optional PDF feature.

Common mistakes

  • Forgetting that page numbers shift after deletion.
  • Assuming the file is permanently redacted; the removed content is simply absent from the new file.
  • Deleting pages from a signed PDF and invalidating the signature.
  • Leaving the original unedited and sending the wrong file.

Troubleshooting

If the remove button does nothing, no pages are selected.

If the output is larger than expected, the PDF may contain embedded fonts and images that are retained.

If a link now points nowhere, it referred to a removed page.

If the file will not load, it may be encrypted and need unlocking first.
