PDF Sign

Draw your signature and place it on a PDF.

What PDF Sign helps you do

Draw a signature with a mouse, finger or stylus and place it on the first page of a PDF. It is a quick visual signature for forms and letters when a full certificate-based signing workflow is not required. The drawn image is embedded at the bottom-left corner of page one.

Drawing and placement happen in your browser. Your signature and document are not uploaded.

How it works

A PDF stores positioned drawing instructions rather than flowing paragraphs, which is why editing one is different from editing a document. Page content, fonts, images and annotations are separate objects, and a page only carries a text layer if the producer wrote one. Most tools here rebuild or render the file in your browser with pdf-lib and pdf.js; the formats that need a full office engine, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF/A and HTML, use the Haivix service and say so in their privacy note. Every tool writes a new file and leaves the original untouched. Because content is placed by coordinates, extraction often returns text runs in visual order rather than sentences, and columns or tables can arrive interleaved.

How to use PDF Sign

  1. Load the PDF and draw your signature.
  2. Clear and redraw if the line is uneven.
  3. Sign the PDF and download the result.
  4. Open the file and confirm the signature sits near the intended line.

When to use it

  • Sign a form or letter where a drawn signature is acceptable.
  • Add initials to specific pages of an agreement.
  • Prepare a signed copy quickly without printing and scanning.
  • Sign a permission slip or internal approval.
  • Add a visual signature to a PDF that will be printed.
  • Return a signed page without a certificate workflow.

When not to use it

  • Do not use it where a certified or legally binding e-signature is required.
  • Do not expect to position the signature freely; it lands at a fixed corner.
  • Do not sign a document whose signature page is not the first page.

Example

A drawn signature is embedded at 72 points from the left and bottom edges of page one, 150 points wide, with the height following the drawing's aspect ratio. A tall or wide signature scales accordingly. Because the placement is fixed, a signature line elsewhere on the page needs a different tool.

What you can do with PDF Sign

  • Draw a signature on a tablet-style canvas.
  • Clear and redraw before committing.
  • Embed the drawing as a transparent PNG.
  • Place it on the first page.
  • Keep the original PDF unchanged.
  • Run the signing locally in the browser.

Example: work on a copy and check the output

Keep the original file. These tools produce a download rather than editing in place, so a failed operation never damages the source.

Check whether the PDF has a real text layer before relying on extraction. A scan is an image, so text tools return little or nothing until OCR has run.

Unlock encrypted files first. A password-protected PDF cannot be reordered, cropped or annotated until it has been opened with the correct password.

Review the output before sending it on. Fonts can substitute, overlays do not always remove what is underneath, and page boxes can shift content near the edges.

Note the page size and orientation before laying anything out. A mixed document can contain portrait and landscape pages, and a tool that assumes one size may crop or offset the others.

Keep a note of the operation and its settings. If a recipient questions the result, reproducing it from the original is faster than guessing which options were used.

What to know before you start

  • This is a drawn image signature, not a cryptographic digital signature with a certificate.
  • Some recipients or authorities require a certified e-signature that this tool does not provide.
  • The signature is placed only on the first page, at a fixed position and width.
  • There is no date, reason or signer identity attached to the mark.

Common mistakes

  • Expecting to drag the signature to a chosen spot.
  • Signing a multi-page contract where the signature page is last.
  • Treating the drawn image as a cryptographic signature.
  • Drawing on a canvas that is too small and getting a coarse result.

Troubleshooting

If the signature is tiny, it was drawn small on the canvas.

If it overlaps content, the fixed corner conflicts with the layout.

If the file will not load, unlock it first.

If the recipient requires a certificate, this tool cannot provide one.

  • Keep the source file.
  • Check for a text layer.
