How to Turn a Title Into a Clean URL Slug
Turn a headline into a lowercase, accent-stripped, hyphenated permalink slug in the browser—ready for SEO-friendly URLs.
A clean slug is lowercase, hyphen-separated, and free of punctuation noise. It helps people read the URL and keeps CMS permalinks predictable. Auto-slugs that keep stop words, accents, or double hyphens still show up in search results.
The Haivix URL Slug Generator transforms live as you type: NFD normalize, strip combining marks, lowercase, replace non [a-z0-9] runs with a single hyphen, and trim edge hyphens. Copy when ready. Processing stays local.
What the slugify rules do
Latin letters with accents usually become plain ASCII after diacritic stripping. Runs of spaces or symbols collapse to one -. Leading and trailing hyphens are removed. There are no options for separator character, max length, stop-word lists, or uniqueness checks against your CMS.
Scripts that do not decompose to Latin letters may become hyphens or empty segments—there is no full transliteration dictionary. For accent-only cleanup without slug rules, use Remove Diacritics. For casing experiments, open the Case Converter.
CMS and SEO habits
Prefer short, stable slugs that match the page topic. Changing a published slug needs a redirect. The generator does not publish, map redirects, or detect collisions with existing posts—that remains your CMS job.
Pair the final URL with metadata from the Meta Tag Generator when you launch the page.
